No news yet . . .

. . . but G is getting a little impatient, uncomfortable and apprehensive about the massive amount of pain soon to come.... time to spread some good vibes in the room here...

Messenger

Hey all you who have MSN Messenger, I am online right now. The username is laughograms, or maybe it's under laughograms@hotmail.com. Just about anyone who has Windows should be able to turn on Messenger if it's not on already (look down in your task bar, bottom right of your screen.) We might even be able to chat by voice.... try it out!

Hello to everyone

Wow, there are a LOT of people tuning in!! Hello to everyone. I am able to keep up with the emails for now so keep 'em comin, they are fun to read to G. Since I have some time I am gonna see if I can scare up a free chat utility of some kind.... if I am silent for a while you will know why, but as soon as I can after Jack is born it will be pics aplenty.

The Doctor Is In

The Doctor Is In

The esteemed Dr. Katz has arrived, in good humor as always and full of positive vibes, not to mention high praise. "You're a better woman than I would be," he just quipped. And he really dug the fact that I brought a bunch of cool CDs for us to listen to on the deluxe Beverly Hills-style Bose system, especially psyched by my Dire Straits selections. I promised him some good bootlegs. In exchange, he broke Genevieve's water and told G she would want the epidural before she thought she would. It reminded me of Yoda talking to Luke: Luke: "I'm not afraid." Yoda: "You will be.... you will be."

A real trouper

Here she is, as high-spirited as ever. Right now G is reading "Triumph and Tragedy in Mudville" by Stephen Jay Gould, bless 'er. Totally relaxed about the whole deal.

Note: Deleted this pic due to strong objections from the subject.

Room with a view part two

Room with a view part two

So if you told me even two years ago that on April 19, 2005 I would be sitting in a Cedars-Sinai hospital room with a fine view of the Hollywood sign and Beverly Hills, cranking tunes and waiting for my first son to be born, I probably would have advised you to seek help.

Contractions coming more frequently now . . . still not painful at all. But it's a long day God knows.

But that's where we are at . . . Here's another fine view from Jack Jack Central.

Hi Seamus, Tiarnan and Maura!

Hello to Nicole

... and anyone else tuning in (Ray just emailed me). You can email us if you want, we're online in the room....

OK, so here we are . . .

As you can tell from the pictures below, we are all checked in to the hospital. Genevieve is hooked up to all sorts of monitors and other gimcracks and I am keeping the popsicles and chipped ice at the ready. We are probably in for a long day and possibly night, so thank goodness we brought plenty of things to read, AND thanks goodness I can sneak on to someone's unencrypted wireless router and post all sorts of wonders for your enjoyment. You ccan email me if you like -- I will be checking throughout the day.

Schedule update

Just back from our last visit to the esteemed Dr. Katz. Our original plan was to go in for induction at 2 am on Tuesday, but another appointment opened up at 10 am so that's when we'll be heading in to Cedars-Sinai. Updates a-go-go soon to follow.

April showers

swing.JPG

Genevieve gets into the "swing" of things at the second of three baby
showers we were fortunate enough to receive. We're very luck to have such
generous family, friends and coworkers. Genevieve's office threw her one
shower; the Chicago girls bundled Gabi off with all manner of presents (this
batch of photos is from Gabi's surprise visit) and my Mom had a shower at
her house, which involved her friends sending us just tons of lovely gifts;
us opening them on tape and sending the tape back in time for the party.
Pretty clever idea for a long distance shower. I'll try to post a screen
grab from the video I made -- kinda funny stuff.

Genevieve's folks were in town, timing their visit with our friend Gabi's.
